Getting married is one of the biggest celebrations you’ll ever experience in your life. You’ll be surrounded by your friends and family who will all be rejoicing about this wonderful event. That’s why it’s important for you to show how much you appreciate their support by providing them with what are known as wedding favors. Interestingly, pecan pralines can be ideal choice for your wedding favors.

What are Wedding Favors?

Before we look specifically at how pecan pralines can be a good choice for your wedding favors, we should look a little more closely at the tradition. Basically, the idea of wedding favors is to give all of your wedding guests a small token of your appreciation. Today, some couples choose to give guests a type of keepsake but that’s not how the tradition began.

Originally wedding favors in the 13th century (when the tradition began) consisted of five sugared almonds. Each of the almonds represented a different positive wish for the couple: fertility, happiness, health, wealth, and longevity.

Pecans not Almonds

As you can see, sugary nuts are the traditional versions of wedding favors. By choosing to use pecan pralines instead of sugared almonds, you’re only updating the choice and adding a bit of southern flair to your festivities. Plus, pecan pralines are likely to make a big impression on your guests, plus they’ll be likely to have a lot more than five nuts in each piece of salty, sugary goodness.

Packaging Your Wedding Favors

If you decide to use pecan pralines as your wedding favors, you need to decide how to package them. The choice you pick will depend on lots of factors, including your event’s theme and your budget. The good news is you’ll be able to be as creative as you want when it comes to the packaging of your pecan pralines.

One of the most adorable methods are the plastic or paper Chinese take out containers. These come in a wide variety of colors and even sizes. Some are so small they could only hold a truffle. Others would be a good size for an individually wrapped disc of pecan pralines. You can easily attach a personalized tag to each of the containers, too.

If you want something a little more traditional, purchase some tulle material from your local fabric store and wrap each of the pieces of pecan pralines in the material. Leave a little extra so you can tie each small package up. Wrap a decorative ribbon – choose a color that matches the rest of your wedding’s color theme – around the package to seal it.

Purchasing Your Wedding Favors

Make sure to contact the seller of your pecan pralines to determine how early you need to place your order, especially if you’re going to be placing a large order. Remember that bulk orders can take longer to create and to ship. Also, you don’t want to buy your pecan pralines too early. Otherwise they won’t taste as good to your guests.
